THE PENCIL

Based on the story from Paulo Coelho’s novel, “Like the Flowing River” I was working on my laptop at my home and then suddenly, my son, Ishaan, came running towards me.  I didn't bother to see him as I was too engrossed in my work as I had to complete the story and deliver it by today. But, he kept on insisting to listen to him. Sometimes, my son seems to get me irritated but you can’t help and there’s no pint in complaining, at least not before your son because, the kind of questions he will then ask will make you mad. I put the laptop down, turned to him, and asked in a harsh tone, “What! What is it that you want now, Ishaan? I told you not to disturb me. Cant you just finish your homework quietly until your mom comes back”.  My wife had gone to neighbor to attend to a ceremony. I was also invited to it but I preferred to stay back as I had deadline to meet. As I was engrossed in my own thoughts, Ishaan pulled my hand again, and showed the ...

That was "ME"

I could hear the cries of people from a very distant location. The cries were loud enough though as if someone had lost its loved one. I started to move towards the location where the cries were being heard. At first they were just faint cries but as soon as I went closer, they were clearer now. I could also see a lot of people had gathered in the house where the cries were being heard. A lot of people were heard saying, "He was a good person indeed". Some were even saying, "God hasn't done justice to the person." I heard one older gentleman saying, "He couldn't have died at such a young age." So, I assumed that person must be very young. I slowly started to move towards the house where the cries were coming. It was difficult to move forward as there was lot of people who had gathered to the house. "The person must be very well known, it seems", I thought to myself. Sometimes, Life seems so unpredictable. You cannot predict the exact ti...

A Dream that became true!

Rimi kept on running as she could feel that someone was following her. It was late at midnight, must be around 1:00 AM. She had been late today while returning from office as she had to submit a status report to the client. Earlier, the day had been pretty hectic for Rimi with loads of work for her, and then there was this team lunch which she couldn't just afford to skip as it was called upon by her manager. And, because of this, she had to do a late stay in order to finish off her work. She had been a truly committed professional throughout her career, and never gave a single chance to her manager to complain about her commitments. But, this sometimes have led her into trouble as she had to go home late and often find herself been stalked. But, today was different. She really felt that someone was following her. She could see the shadow behind her but when she turned back to look whos there, the shadow had disappeared. "It must be her illusion", she thought to herself a...

Honey, I met my idol!

She was both thrilled and excited as Rani was meeting her favorite icon "Sabeer Khan", the star. He had been her since long and she had even dreamt of marrying him, and have kids. It was a one-sided love, atleast when Sabeer got married to another superstar, Reema Kapoor. Rani's heart was shattered once she heard of Sabeer's marriage. She had not eaten anything for two days in grief. Such a kind of love was she into with Sabeer Khan. But, since then, life has moved on for Rani as she also got married to Ravi, an IT professional, and was living in Delhi for over two years. It was not until she got a chance to meet her favorite idol in a singing reality show. She was not a very good singer but she had just come here to meet her idol; though she was fond of singing and had a good collection of songs, ofcourse all were from Sabeer's films. She got this opportunity to sing in the reality show because of Ravi whose company was sponsoring this event. So, Ravi got everyth...

A DREAM that awoke me from inside...

I entered into the room. It looked dark from outside with a dim light coming from the corner of the room. I went closer only to see two girls sitting, facing each other. Seeing me, one of them called upon, "Come on in. We three are there to help you." "Three! Who's the third one." I thought to myself. I got a little scared as there already was not much of light in the room. Slowly, I stepped inside the room, watching each of my steps. "Where is the third girl? I can only see you two." I told to one of them. "Can't you see the third girl?" She replied. "She's inside the trunk. Go ahead and open it, and see it for yourself", said the other girl. I got more scared, and got a chill throughout my body as if someone is trying to kill me. I could easily hear my heart beat so hard. I was all alone in the house as everyone else had gone for a dinner leaving me behind. Slowly, I was approaching the trunk where the third girl was sitti...

Its Valentines Day!

"Give me one rose, please?" An old man said to the flower vendor who was selling flowers at a bus stop. His day was quite busy today as usual but with Valentine's Day round the corner, the business was on a high. All the hype created by the so-called moral police for going Anti-Valentine had in fact boosted the people to greet their respective valentines, and this in turn was beneficial for the flower vendors around Delhi. He called again to the flower vendor as he was quite busy listening to the huge crowd that has gathered in his shop. He shouted to him, "Give me just one flower, dammit!" Every one stopped doing whatever they were doing, and turned around, only to see an old man asking for just one rose. Some of them laughed at hearing this and some of them were surprised at this. At this, the flower vendor smiled and asked, "Who is it you want to give this rose to at this age, Uncleji? Are you thinking to marry again or what?" "That's none ...

Its Tuesday!

“Slow it down, honey!” She said to Akshay. Akshay was driving fast, with the speed of 100 miles per hour. He was running late to office, and had to drop his wife, Neha the nursing home as she worked over there. She repeatedly told him to slow it down. But he did not listen her, and kept on driving fast; fast as wild. He drove past many vehicles in a flash of a second, and his wife kept praying to herself. Akshay smiled at her worry looking face, and put his hand on her cheek, and said, “Don’t worry, sweetheart! Everything’s going to be all right!” At this, she replied, “Yeah! Do not pretend to be “the Akshay Kumar” because you are not.” He laughed at this, and started to kiss on her cheeks that suddenly his wife asked him to stop as a monkey came in front of their car. He tried to put brakes but before he could do it, it was too late. The monkey had already come under the car, but Akshay kept on driving continuously, and didn’t stop. After few minutes, Akshay heard her weeping. He aske...
